City Break Ideas

A crêpe fraise-chocolat

What’s your top city break recommendation? Write a reply below and we’ll compile your ideas into a future episode. Where would you like to go and why?

Our own ideas include St Petersburg, for an evening of ballet at the Mariinsky, Munich for a tour of Ludwig II’s fairy-tale castles or Paris, just to linger over a crêpe at a pavement café in the Quartier Latin. How about you?

Barcelona is a great place for a city break. I just loved the atmosphere of the place, but if I had to chose one highlight it would be Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia cathedral. I had seen it as a teenager in the 1970s when there were still only a few sections built. I went again to Barcelona on a city break a few years ago. Of course the cathedral is still not finished, but the change is amazing. It is just astounding – both inside and outside.

Hello City Breaks team!

Last year I had the good fortune of visiting Malta. It is undoubtedly a beautiful place, with lots to see and do, however, I found the historical side of Malta ever so interesting! The different inhabitants over the centuries and role the Maltese islands played during various wars. I was told the story of the Great Siege by a local, which was fascinating.

I also am delighted I made the decision to visit Gozo. This was perhaps the highlight of the trip.

Would love to hear a special episode on the Maltese islands!
